Posture
Poor posture may be the result of a number of factors. These would include physical trauma, some form of deformity within the musculoskeletal system or faulty loading of the body structures.
In good posture the postural muscles are fairly in-active and energy efficent, only responding to disruptions in balance to maintain an upright position. As one moves away from ideal alignment postural muscle tone is increased, thus increasing energy expenditure. As an exaple, sitting in office chairs is not an activity the human body was designed for, particularly when it has to be maintained for long reriods of time (possibly 8+ hours). As gravity bears down on us and we move away from what are recognised as ideal sitting postures the strain placed on postural muscles is increased further. Musculoskeletal strain, tension and in some cases, pain are the almost invitable result.
By having a posture analysis session with Amelia Walker Personal Training who are fully qualified in corrective exercise we will be able to ascertain if you have any posture problems which could help you from further pain in later life. Whether you exercise currently or not you may have posture problems. Some exercises may even increase the problem so it would be essential to have a corrective exercise plan to help counter act these problems.
If this is a area of concern or you would like further information on posture analysis & corrective exercise then please get in touch..
