It’s time to change?

At the beginning of Jan 2008 I went out on a typical Friday night drinking session with friends, I ended up getting the same old drunk and eating crap, the next morning feeling rough I decided that enough was enough, what had happened to the lean fit lad that loved sport and being active? I tell you what he had gone and dumped 4 stone of fat on his sorry                                                                                                arse!

The starting point was I knew I had to do away with my lifestyle of junk food and alcohol fuelled nights out, so I decided to make some serious changes to my nutrition to the amusement of my friends. I had tried this in the past but before long found myself back in the old routine of fast food and beer, however this time I had convinced myself that I was going to see it through! So getting on the scales at the beginning of 2008 I weighed 15 ½ stone and only being 5ft 8 I was fairly rounded!

The next step was to set an achievable goal, I wanted to do at least one more season playing football like when I was younger, and using this as my initial goal I started to re-form my diet and cut down my calories intake of crap per day keeping the fat & sugar intake right down. I started to make sure I got my 5-a-day which was a new experience in itself! It soon became a habit to eat this way and weighed myself once a week, as the weighted started to drop off I began to feel a lot more alive and started to introduce exercise into the frame, I brought a bike initially and went out for rides morning and night, I also joined a local 5-a-side team which at first nearly killed me but as the weeks past I was becoming fitter and lighter!

As the first couple of months past I had lost 2 stone and was well on my way but also felt I needed to get that extra push to save me hitting a Plato so I decided to join a gym to increase my cardio fitness and this is where my new found love for training started I was introduced to a personal trainer who I still train with today!  With his sessions and my own work I had achieved my goal of 72kg. I had also started to play 11-a-side football again so my initial goal had been achieved.

During 2009 I have become more and more interested in the Health & Fitness world. My training has become very strict along with my nutrition and now had the correct training/lifestyle regime. My body weight has stayed the same and was now 56lb lighter than at the beginning of 2008! My body fat percentage was now 10.4% and this soon became a goal in itself to be as low as my body genetics will allow and keep the weight up with lean muscle density! This is a goal that I still monitor today and keeping this maintained with a varied range of exercise/training programmes.

It’s a true saying that success in any form leads to more success I now wanted to share this with others and help them achieve their goals so became a Level 3 Advanced Personal Trainer & Nutrition Advisor, specialising in personal training, weight loss/management & sports specific training. What started out as simple lifestyle change to try and help me lose weight and become healthier ended up in a complete career change!

I started this journey by making a simple decision and putting my mind-set in the right place, simple goals and determination! If I can do this then YOU can do this for sure, start believing and changing your life today, not tomorrow!

Remember I have sat on that side of the fence where everything seems impossible but the truth is everything is possible with my help I can help you jump into the new fitter, stronger lighter you! I hope you find my story interesting and that goals can be achieved!
